Family Vacation

We just got back from our 8 day family vacation. Half of it was spent having a reunion with Jason's family. We all stayed in a big house together. Lots of fun and lots of learning to be flexible. : ) It was great hanging out with family and making memories: The burger grilling contest, the bowling game that took up 3 lanes and filled the bowling alley with laughter, lots of time spent at the pool. My girls ran around with all their cousins, feeling safe with such a big family support system surrounding them.

The other half of the vacation was just our family. Staying in one small room. Together. It was........a bit crowded. Ha! Early on we discovered what a mistake it was. Every night, one of the little ones would cry, waking up the other little one and consequently our whole family. Then one would wake up at the crack of dawn and wake the rest of us up. Good times. In the end, we discovered that it really isn't the destination that matters. It's the fun you make while you're there. And I know I will always treasure this stage of my girls' lives where spending time with them makes them the happiest. How great is that?

What Was I Thinking?!?

Ok. Everything about this scenario screams, "What was I thinking?"

Letting Elise have ice cream in the car? Not smart.
Forgetting to ask for the ice cream in a cup? Not smart.
The employee who accidentally made her a regular sized cone instead of kid size? Not smart!

It did turn out to be a cute picture though.

"Snores"

Notice the "Snore" hair. Ha!

At bedtime, we had already done our routine, but Elle insisted on going back downstairs to get her other blankie. I gave in and dozed on her bed while she went down to get it. When she finally came back up, I did a double take. She had no blankie in her hands, but she did have something sticky and white on her face. "What is on your face?" I asked. "Snores!" she said. My mind flashed to the kitchen where I had just made myself a smore under the oven broiler and left it to cool as a special treat after I put the girls to bed. Oh well. Didn't need those extra calories anyways. : )

I Have 3 Kids

For those of you who don't know me as well as others, today's post is totally tongue in cheek. I try not to excuse myself from responsibilities. However, IF I was needing an excuse.......

"Why aren't you ever on time anymore?" I have 3 kids.
"Why is the house still a wreck?" We have 3 kids.
"Why does the car smell like rotten potatoes?" We have 3 kids.
"Why can't you volunteer to stuff hundreds of envelopes?" I have 3 kids.
"Why does your hair smell like bacon grease?" I have 3 kids.
"Why do your legs look like hairy apes?" I have 3 kids.

And my personal favorite:

"Why is the whole pan of peach pie gone?" We have 3 kids.

Genius!

Pee Sheets

Apparently, the last 24 hours have been the "pee sheet" hours. First up, Elle. She got into our bed yesterday morning at 6 with a leaky diaper. She didn't bother to inform me of that, though. She just got in, laid upside down, and proceeded to roll around with her bottom on my pillow. Then, she went upstairs, took her diaper off, sat her bare pee bottom on our expensive stair carpet and screamed until Jason came to get her. It wasn't until I rolled over onto wetness that I realized the problem. So, I had to wash her bedding and our bedding- not to mention my pillow. This morning, when Elise woke up crying, I went in to find she had taken her diaper off, thrown it onto the carpet and proceeded to pee on her bedding. Once again, I would like to remind my readers that I am not getting paid enough for this. : )
