Elise has had a nasty cold, but as a girl, she's learning that it's nothing a new pair of pink snow boots can't fix.
My friend Heather came up for a visit and we spent several hours yesterday making our hubbies some awesome Father's Day gifts. I had heard about putting your children's footprints on a piece of paper, adding a poem and framing it. But, I thought, "Why not do all of that on burlap instead?" So we did! Did you know that if you use spray adhesive to attach a piece of burlap to computer paper, you can run it through your printer??? Awesome! That is how we got the poem on. Then, we used black paint to do our kids' footprints. Here it is: We also went to Hobby Lobby and had the kids pose with letters that spell Dad and took their picture. Then, we came home, printed them off and put them in a frame. I love that they each show their personality in the pictures. Very sweet. Here it is: You know how I love to share the realities of DIY. All in all, it went pretty smoothly. However, there were some glitches like: My first few poem prints on the burlap were too l...
So after last year's somewhat involved birthday parties, I had declared that this year we would be doing simple parties for the girls. Parties involving kitty cat plates and such from Wal-mart. Then Elle requested a balloon party. Great! Easy peasy. I would buy a bunch of helium balloons and call it good. My mistake was casually typing "balloon party" into the search bar on Pinterest. : ) So many CUTE ideas. I was hooked and with Elle helping me design the event, here is what we ended up with: Cannot say enough good things about the woman who designed these invitations! For less than it would cost me to buy generic ones at Target, she worked with me, making changes several times. She even included the envelopes. Her FB site is here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/That-Cute-Design/141701582527759 The striped party hats and cute party banner on the front of the table are from Target. The rainbow jello instructions are on Pinterest. Very, very cute, but VERY time co...
If you want to do a Max and Ruby birthday, then you will have to get creative. No one sells the party decorations and there are very few resources on the net to help with ideas. I decided to post pics of Elle's party last weekend to pass along the few ideas I did copy or come up with. Be prepared for a lot of printing, cutting, and pasting. : ) The pink and white striped "tablecloth" was a sheet we already had. The center is gathered with a clothespin decorated with ribbon. We bought some fancy lemonade and then glued our home made "Ruby's Lemonade" labels on. You can go to Rosemary Wells' website to print off this super cute birthday banner. I bought some pink polka dot ribbon and taped the banner pieces on. We bought these ice cream waffle bowls at Wal-Mart and I dipped the edges in melted milk chocolate chips and then rolled them in sprinkles. We had a full fledged sundae bar with caramel, fudge and cherries. The garden lanterns we...
