More Information Please

Elle's mother's day out had a western father/daughter dinner at the school. Jason and Elle dressed up in their cowboy boots and went. Apparently, I could have provided more information to Jason than just where to find the fellowship hall. After they started eating, a class of kids got up and went to the front to sing some songs. Jason thought they looked Elle's age, so he (not knowing what her teacher looked like) asked her if she was supposed to be up there singing. At first she said no, then she said it WAS her class and her teacher and she wanted to go up and sing. What to do? He decided to tell her to go up there and sing. Luckily, she was too shy to go because it was NOT her class. Ha!

    Michelle- I know! I asked my husband why he was going to have her go up on stage if he didn't know whether or not she was supposed to. My rule following nature was horrified at the thought. But, he figured that it wouldn't be a big deal even if she wasn't supposed to go. And you know what? He's probably right. I guess the teacher would have been wondering why a 2 year old had joined her class, but other than that, it would have been ok. Just one more reason that our polar opposite personalities will (hopefully) help our kids be balanced. Hee hee!

Valentines Tree

I love mixing patterns and textures! I wanted to do some more Valentine's decorating using things I already had around the house. I had some cute red and white polka dot tissue paper to start with. And I decided to use some newspaper to mix with it. I traced small hearts on each kind of paper and cut them out. I poked a hole towards the top with a pencil and my daughter Emma hung them on tree branches for me. I kind of wish I had cut more newspaper hearts, but I'm not about to "correct" Emma's work. I love how it turned out!

DADS!!!

My friend Heather came up for a visit and we spent several hours yesterday making our hubbies some awesome Father's Day gifts. I had heard about putting your children's footprints on a piece of paper, adding a poem and framing it. But, I thought, "Why not do all of that on burlap instead?" So we did!  Did you know that if you use spray adhesive to attach a piece of burlap to computer paper, you can run it through your printer??? Awesome! That is how we got the poem on. Then, we used black paint to do our kids' footprints. Here it is: We also went to Hobby Lobby and had the kids pose with letters that spell Dad and took their picture. Then, we came home, printed them off and put them in a frame. I love that they each show their personality in the pictures. Very sweet. Here it is: You know how I love to share the realities of DIY. Balloon Party For Elle Belle

So after last year's somewhat involved birthday parties, I had declared that this year we would be doing simple parties for the girls. Parties involving kitty cat plates and such from Wal-mart. Then Elle requested a balloon party. Great! Easy peasy. I would buy a bunch of helium balloons and call it good. My mistake was casually typing "balloon party" into the search bar on Pinterest. : ) So many CUTE ideas. I was hooked and with Elle helping me design the event, here is what we ended up with: Cannot say enough good things about the woman who designed these invitations! For less than it would cost me to buy generic ones at Target, she worked with me, making changes several times. She even included the envelopes.
