6 Things You Didn't Know About Me

I have always loved to paint and do art, even though I'm not great at it.



I had a whole series of bad bangs throughout elementary and I'm not sure why. I would like to name these the "I'm closer to Heaven than you" bangs.


I loved to bust rocks and try to find the crystals inside them when I was little. This is one of my rock busting costumes. Notice how I sport the lovely blue jacket, ski hat and black ballet flats.


My brother is also weird.


I once rode a giant ant while dressed like the New Kids On The Block. You got the right stuff, baby!


Possibly SEVERAL members of my family are weird and yes, that's me in the background pretending to eat wrapped Hershey's Kisses.

    Oh, don't worry. I plan on doing that post regularly and I do have a few photos of us that would TOTALLY make the cut. Ha ha ha!

    I love these pictures, Lisa...and the bangs. "Closer to heaven than you" cracked me up! And I remember you being very artistic. I'm not surprised at all at the wonderful things you are creating for your home. They're really great. I also remember you making guys do art or craft projects when they came over to see you. I'm sure they loved it. :)

    Thank you! Very sweet. And yes, I may have been the most unique girlfriend those boys ever had! I remember one of them writing in my yearbook that I had taught him a lot. I do recall teaching him how to paint ants smoking cigarettes. Ha!

Valentines Tree

I love mixing patterns and textures! I wanted to do some more Valentine's decorating using things I already had around the house. I had some cute red and white polka dot tissue paper to start with. And I decided to use some newspaper to mix with it. I traced small hearts on each kind of paper and cut them out. I poked a hole towards the top with a pencil and my daughter Emma hung them on tree branches for me. I kind of wish I had cut more newspaper hearts, but I'm not about to "correct" Emma's work. I love how it turned out!

DADS!!!

My friend Heather came up for a visit and we spent several hours yesterday making our hubbies some awesome Father's Day gifts. I had heard about putting your children's footprints on a piece of paper, adding a poem and framing it. But, I thought, "Why not do all of that on burlap instead?" So we did!  Did you know that if you use spray adhesive to attach a piece of burlap to computer paper, you can run it through your printer??? Awesome! That is how we got the poem on. Then, we used black paint to do our kids' footprints. Here it is: We also went to Hobby Lobby and had the kids pose with letters that spell Dad and took their picture. Then, we came home, printed them off and put them in a frame. I love that they each show their personality in the pictures. Very sweet. Here it is: You know how I love to share the realities of DIY. Balloon Party For Elle Belle

So after last year's somewhat involved birthday parties, I had declared that this year we would be doing simple parties for the girls. Parties involving kitty cat plates and such from Wal-mart. Then Elle requested a balloon party. Great! Easy peasy. I would buy a bunch of helium balloons and call it good. My mistake was casually typing "balloon party" into the search bar on Pinterest. : ) So many CUTE ideas. I was hooked and with Elle helping me design the event, here is what we ended up with: Cannot say enough good things about the woman who designed these invitations! For less than it would cost me to buy generic ones at Target, she worked with me, making changes several times. She even included the envelopes.
